At the commencement of this term, we had some new teachers. They are very wonderful people with nice personalities, full of wisdom, and they are also very popular with us.
First, I would like to make special mention of our Extensive English Reading teacher, Mr. Zhong. He is really a charming man! He not only has an attractive voice but succeeds in focusing our attention on him every moment and everywhere. He is also a humorous person. He always has methods to make his lessons lively and help us understand and learn many things through laughter. I remember clearly the first lesson he gave us. When he stood on the platform, he said nothing but mentioned a serious topic: future. It was very surprising. We were only freshmen who had just passed the college entrance examination. All we wanted to do was enjoy ourselves, feeling how wonderful the college life would be, seeing exciting movies, and making lots of friends both on the internet and in reality. We felt that we needed to relax! We wanted to have an exciting life. We didn’t want to be concerned about whom we were going to be and which class of citizens we would belong to after four years, or even ten years from now! But Mr. Zhong really did! He described the fierce competition with which we would be faced after graduation; what kind of person society would need and which direction we should aim. His words shocked us deeply and woke us up! We’ve made up our minds to study harder in the future.
Then, I’m eager to say something about our Comprehensive English Course teacher, Mr. Zhao, a lovely and kind-hearted man. Maybe he was born with a smiling face, whenever we see him, we feel happy. He is a man with humor too. For example, one day he asked a girl to write something on the blackboard. Unfortunately, the girl was too nervous to write it well. So, when she went back to her seat, Mr. Zhao said with a sweet smile“poor child!”At first, we didn’t understand what he meant. Then he explained that poor was equal to lovely, and the girl was such a lovely girl! Then we all burst out laughing.
Mr. Zhao has a very good mastery of his teaching. I am really lucky that he is my teacher. His lectures are clearly organized, putting the most important thing at the important place, answering questions with great enthusiasm and patience. He asks us to learn as many English articles by heart as possible. Sometimes he will check us. I am confident in saying that he is a good teacher and I am convinced that we can become outstanding English majors under his teaching.
As a matter of fact, now I love every teacher who teaches us! And I think they are the most wonderful teachers I’ve ever seen!

Foreign Languages Department
What is a university? Some say that a library is a university. Others say a group of professors is a university. Though people may have some different emphasis on the two aspects of a university, they do not disagree on the point that a university must hold both a library and a group of devoted learnt professors(teachers). In order to build our Modern College into a nationally advanced and internationally well-known university in a relatively short period of time, we are trying our every means and effort to meet these two requirements. And this piece of writing by one of the students in the Foreign Languages Department just shows two, among so many, of the devoted learnt teachers.
